Hansen was born in Scotland. Her parentage is part Danish, part Scots.
She qualified in Drawing and Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art,
and later in Fine Art at the University of Edinburgh. She also has a
gegree in drama and elocution and is a trained teacher of art, She
regularly lectures on fine art subjects and teaches life drawing and
painting all over the country. she has won many awards and travel
scolarships including the Prix de Rome. She is a former President of
the Society of Scottish Artists and an honorary member oof the BBK of
Berlin.  She has regularly and prolifically exhibited locally,
nationally and internationally. In 2007 she will be holding major
exhibitions of her work in Villeneuve d'Ascq. in Berlin and in Bornholm
in the Baltic, the Danish island from where her grandfather ran away to
